Announcing the Next P-Wave Classic: Maid Marian & The Misfortunes of Elphin

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the next P-Wave Classic: Maid Marian & The Misfortunes of Elphin by Thomas Love Peacock. This beautifully bound edition, featuring two of Peacock’s most captivating satirical novels, will be available on 4 September 2025.

Following the successful launch of Headlong Hall & Nightmare Abbey, we are delighted to continue our P-Wave Classics series with two more of Peacock’s brilliant works. Both Maid Marian and The Misfortunes of Elphin showcase Peacock’s unique ability to blend sharp wit, keen social commentary, and playful satire, all wrapped up in exquisitely crafted prose.

A tale of merry men and mythical times

Maid Marian is Peacock’s delightfully irreverent take on the Robin Hood legend, filled with his characteristic humour and biting social observation. Far from the conventional telling of the tale, Maid Marian reimagines the legend as a sharp, satirical romp through medieval England, turning familiar characters on their heads while exploring themes of freedom, justice, and rebellion.

Meanwhile, The Misfortunes of Elphin transports readers to the mythical past of Wales, weaving together history, legend, and Peacock’s trademark satire. It’s a story that explores the fragility of kingdoms and the unpredictable nature of fortune, all while lacing political critique with fantastical storytelling.

We are incredibly proud to be bringing these works back into the hands of readers, beautifully presented as part of the P-Wave Classics series. This is just the beginning—there are many more classics to come, each one chosen for its timeless wit, sharp social insight, and literary merit.
